An inmate at the Marion County Jail is facing a felony charge of criminal mischief, after he reportedly damaged state property inside the jail.

48-year-old Christopher Johnson of Knoxville faces a count of second degree criminal mischief stemming from an incident on January 26th.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was asked to examine a window in B-Pod which had been damaged; security video reportedly shows Johnson approaching the window and striking it twice with the back of his hand, causing it to crack.

The Sheriff’s Office says Johnson admitted to causing the damage; the cost for repair is estimated at $2,500.
