Pella Christian’s All-State volleyball setter will continue her career setting up kills in the NAIA.

Senior Emma Huisman is heading to Trinity Christian College this fall to play volleyball for the Trolls of Palo Heights, Illinois.

Huisman is looking forward to the opportunity to further her career in the sport she loves at a school she was recommended to check out.

“I just love the sport so much,” Huisman says. “It brings me so much joy, and it’s kind of my relaxer. Whenever I’m on the court, everything just goes — not numb, exactly, but my mind goes blank and I can just focus on one thing at a time. And what led me to my decision [to go to Trinity], probably is just the Christian atmosphere and I’ve heard really good things about the coach from my high school coach [John Evenhouse].”

Huisman was an all-state honorable mention in Class 2A this past fall. The senior setter tallied 587 assists in her senior season, giving her 1310 in her career. She’ll be joining a familiar face at Trinity–2017 Pella Christian graduate Madysen Zula, who was 3rd on the team with 109 blocks as a sophomore this past fall. Christa Veenstra, also a former Eagle, is graduating this spring from Trinity Christian after playing for the Trolls for four seasons.

Stay tuned to 92.1 KRLS all this week to hear from Pella Christian athletes advancing their athletic endeavors to the collegiate level.
