A Knoxville man has been charged with child endangerment and child endangerment causing serious injury, involving his adopted child.

49-year-old Rocky Wooldridge was arrested and charged shortly after police executed a search warrant at his home over the weekend; this followed a report of a possible child abuse case to Knoxville police by the state Department of Human Services.

Police say the child in Wooldridge’s care showed signs of thermal burns on his feet and severe bruising on his arm; DHS investigators reported visiting his home, and finding substandard living conditions for the child…who reportedly had not been outside the house for months.

Police obtained a search warrant for the home on Saturday; they reportedly found several unsecured firearms, some within reach of the child. As a convicted felon Wooldridge would not be allowed to possess such weapons.
