The Well and World Renew Disaster Relief are co-hosting a “Helping that Helps” workshop, exploring ways to alleviate poverty while helping, rather than unknowingly harming, people who live in poverty. The workshop will be held on Monday, April 15th from 7-9 PM in the Learning Center of The Well in Pella. This event is free to attend. Workshop leaders will be Executive Director of the Well Jayson Henry and Rev. Kris Van Engen, congregational justice mobilizer for World Renew and the Office of Social Justice.

“Our vision at The Well is to see people reach long-term stability in their lives,” said Henry. “Partnering with World Renew aligns nicely with what we do through ministry at The Well.” World Renew focusses on renewing hope and reconciling lives through community development and education on a local and global scale.

Henry added, “We think this workshop will benefit all local churches, social service agencies and mission-minded individuals who want to help people effectively.”

In the April 15 interactive workshop, attendees will hear stories from practitioners, best practices from each other, and be inspired to partner both locally and globally in a way that provides hope instead of unintended harm.
