With Severe Weather Awareness Week approaching, emergency management personnel will be available on Saturday to help local residents obtain or reprogram weather alert radios…to notify them of an emergency situation.
Weather radios will be on sale at the Knoxville Hy-vee this Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 12;00 p.m. Personnel from Marion County Emergency Management will be on hand to help program new radios or reset ones you already own.
These will signal you whenever severe weather threatens the area, but are not intended to provide ongoing updates; those with a radio should be prepared to tune in to KNIA and KRLS for the latest weather information.
Staff from the National Weather Service in Des Moines will also be on hand to answer any weather questions you may have; this event will help kick off Severe Weather Awareness Week, which runs from next Monday through Friday.
