The 10 ton embargo on all unpaved Warren County roads came to a close on Tuesday evening, as the Warren County Board of Supervisors voted to end the embargo early. County Engineer David Carroll recommended to the board to end the embargo, after the recent warmer weather has allowed the layer of frost below the roadway surface to melt.

The Engineer’s Office also stated when the embargo was initially put in place “We have had record-breaking snowfalls in the month of February, higher than normal precipitation, and cold temperatures which continued into March. We are putting every resource available into gravel this year and into the future to improve and maintain our gravel roads.”

The supervisors recently purchased $647,000 of gravel after approving the use of reserve funds.
