The South Overlook boat ramp is closed until further notice due to rising lake levels. The portion of the Volksweg Trail around the Marina Cove bay is also closed. Boat ramps that are currently usable include those at the Whitebreast Recreation Area, Marina Cove and Elk Rock State Park (just off of Highway 14) for lake access, and Howell Station Landing for river access below the dam. Parking areas at the Marina Cove ramp are limited during times of high water. During March and April, the Red Rock Visitor Center is open Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. The lake level stands at approximately 763 feet above sea level, or 21 feet above normal pool. The lake is expected to crest late next week with about two more feet of rising left in the forecast. The previous highest crest in March was 754 feet above sea level on March 13th, 2009.
