Warren County Emergency Management, along with many other state partners, are encouraging residents to get educated about making a plan for a severe weather event during Severe Weather Awareness Week. Emergency Management Coordinator Troy Bass tells KNIA News a simple way to be prepared is to put together an emergency kit.

“Pack water, food, a can opener, things like that. To be safe, we’d like folks to prepare for 72 hours of being isolated, that gives first responders time to get to you because in a disaster area everyone is going to be in a similar situation and can’t all be rescued at the same time.”

Bass also said Warren County Emergency Management has developed an app available in the app store or google play to help families get prepared, search for Warren County IA Preparedness.
