Knoxville-area residents who suffer from chronic lower back pain are invited to take part in a workshop this month, giving them the opportunity to learn more about the causes and treatments for their problem.

The free workshop will be on Wednesday, April 24th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics Physical Therapy Department.

Dr. Justin Plum says it’s for anyone dealing with chronic low back pain, occasional flare-ups or sciatica. He tells KNIA/KRLS News they’ll address common causes of back trouble, and treatment plans using therapy instead of more invasive means.

“My expectations would be just to educate the community on how conservative physical therapy could be an option for them, trying to avoid surgery or pain medication, and how conservative therapy interventions can also be beneficial,” Dr. Plum says.

Seating is limited, so anyone interested in attending may register online at knoxvillehospital.org or call the Physical Therapy Department at (641) 842-1464.
