Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at Pella Regional Health Center will open April 10.

Director of the New Departments Lesa Mering says the space will offer advanced wound care for people living with chronic, non-healing wounds. Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine will be located within the newly renovated section of the hospital at the corner of Jefferson and Hazel streets. It is estimated that chronic wounds affect 6.7 million people in the U.S. and that number is rising, fueled by an aging population and increasing rates of conditions such as diabetes, obesity and the late effects of radiation therapy. If left untreated, chronic wounds can lead to diminished quality of life and possibly amputation of the affected limb.

People with wounds that have not improved with traditional methods of treatment may benefit from a visit to Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at Pella Regional. For more information, call 641-628-6615.
