The Indianola girls track and field team competed at Waukee High School Tuesday, placing 8th out of 12 squads of mainly 4A competition, scoring 15 points. The meet was highlighted by a first place finish from Bailey Blake in the 400m. Other top finishers for the Indians included Avery Howe and Lauren Blake in the 200m in 6th and 7th place respectively, Jadyn Forbes 3rd in the 800m, Rayna Sickels in the 100m hurdles placing 2nd, the 4×400 relay finishing 6th. And the spring medley relay team placing 2nd. The boys also competed at Simpson College in the PCM invitational, full results can be found on KNIAKRLS.com with Knoxville and PCM.

The Indians boys tennis team took home a 7-4 victory over North Polk in their season opener. Head coach Jamie Busby tells KNIA Sports despite facing the runner-up at the state meet at #1 singles, Bradyn Upchurch held his own in a 10-5 defeat, while Colton Miller at #2 singles, Christian Jauron at #3, Ian Smith at #4, and Joe Menke at #6 singles all picked up wins. In doubles action, Menke and James Howard won at #3, Tom Krapfl (Krafful) and David O’Meara won at #4, and Jake Brend and Curran Wadle took home a victory at #5. The Indians are 1-0, and travel to Ballard Friday.

The Indians girls tennis squad also took away a victory on their home courts 8-3, hosting the Comets in their matchup. Ellie Blosser took home a 10-8 victory at #1 singles, Paige Bily won at #2 singles, Allison Coffey won in both of her singles and doubles competitions, while Katelyn Thessen also picked up a singles win. Coach Dave Summy tells KNIA Sports Miranda Murphy fell in her singles competition, but came back strong to pick up a doubles victory, and Selia Becker also played well in her first varsity action. The Indians are now 1-0 on the season, and play Pella Christian tomorrow.

Indians girls soccer was all over the Polar Bears of Des Moines North, scoring early and often in a 7-2 victory. Aryss Forbes scored three first half goals to get her hat trick, with the Indians leading 3-1 at the halftime break. The Indians then went on to get four more second half goals, with Forbes getting a 4th, and Megan Howard scoring another and Sky Delzell earning a brace. The Indians are now 1-0 on the season.

The Indians boys soccer team traveled to Little Hawkeye Conference rival Norwalk Tuesday evening, falling 2-1 in overtime. The Indians scored a first half goal to lead at the break 1-0, but a second half equalizer from the Warriors forced extra time, then Norwalk was able to secure the victory. The Indians are now 0-1, and both girls and boys will travel to North Polk tomorrow.
