The deadline is approaching to apply for grants from the Marion County Community Foundation, and its board members are encouraging not-for-profit organizations to put in an application and find out if they’re able to get a share of the money available.

Applications for this round of grants are due on Saturday, April 20th at 5:00 p.m.

Sheri Roslien from the Marion County Community Foundation tells KNIA/KRLS News the only restriction is applicants must have 501(c)3 status; beyond that, they’ll consider requests as long as they are used for a specific purpose.

“We don’t want to provide money to a general budget; we want it to be a project. We would love it to be creative and innovative, but in this day and age sometimes we do have to fund some things that are brick and mortar; tables for a community center, playground equipment, things that those organizations couldn’t afford otherwise,” Roslien says.

The foundation’s Distribution Committee will meet and make the final decisions on which applicants will receive funding; they’ll consider factors such as the merits of the project, the priority and the feasibility of completing the project.
