The Pella Lady Dutch track and field team dominated the Bondurant invitational, scoring 188 points yesterday to claim the meet title. Pella earned several top finishes, including a 1-2 finish in the 100 meter dash for Metsje Miller (13.28) and Emily McMartin (13.39), a 1-3 finish for Calla Kerndt (27.59) and Esther Diers (28.6) in the 200, a 1-2 finish in the 800 meters for Caroline McMartin (2:25.48) and Tirzah Wittenberg (2:27.78), and a long jump win for Evie Armstrong (15-07.75). Pella’s 4×200, 4×400, 4×800, shuttle hurdle, and sprint medley relay teams were also 1st place winners. Pella’s girls head to the track in Newton Thursday.

It was a close four-point margin, but the Pella boys won the Norwalk Track and Field Invitational Tuesday, edging host Norwalk. Pella had several event titles, including two from Nick DeJong in the discus (162-05) and shot put (59-08.5), two wins from Jordan Buma in the 110 hurdles (15.75) and 400 hurdles (56.44), first place from Josiah Wittenberg in the 1600 meters (4:32.9) and wins from the Distance Medley group of Xavion Huizinga, Nolan Clayberg, Jackson Rozenboom, and Tony Schmitz (3:44.56) and Shuttle Hurdle Relay of Gabe Thomas, Nolan Clayberg, Brandon Winegardner, Jordan Buma at 1:01.70. Pella will have one more meet before the Drake Relays cutoff, as they head to Waukee Thursday.

Pella’s boys tennis team remained unbeaten in dual meets, hitting the road and knocking off Norwalk 8-3. The Dutch had to win four of the five matches that went to tiebreakers, including Jordan Roozeboom at No. 1 singles, Luke Diers in the No. 4 match, and the same when they came together in doubles. Troy Miller and Matthew Thompson earned the final match that went past the first two sets. Pella is 5-0 in head-to-head action and hosts Newton at Caldwell Park today.

Even though they were without No. 1 player Brooke Jorgensen, the Lady Dutch tennis team won three tiebreakers to edge Norwalk 7-4 Monday at home. Hanna Blom and Abbie Nunnikhoven both won in 1 and 2 singles, as did Zoe Card and Andie Sunderman at 5 and 6, both with tiebreakers. Despite each falling in singles, Lisa Dykstra and Makenzie Van Maanen bounced back to win a tiebreak in the No. 2 doubles spot. Pella improves to 3-2 in dual meets and 2-0 in the conference, and head to Newton today.
