Pella Christians’ track and field girls finished tied for 2nd at the Eddyville Relays yesterday, scoring 84 team points. The Eagles had 1st place finishes for Allison Van Gorp in the shot put (38-06) and discus (115-05), as well as from the 4×100 team of Erica Nikkel, Chloe Morgan, Kayla Natelborg, and Mary Kate Bandstra (52.79). Annaliese Admiraal placed 2nd in the 1500 meters (5:44.98), as did Morgan in the 400 meters (1:06.17). Bandstra (26.9) and Nikkel (27.34) placed 2-3 in the 200 meters, and Bandstra also was runner-up in the 100 meters (13.09). The Eagles will learn about any Drake Relays qualifiers this weekend, and are off until April 25th.

The Eagles boys track and field team placed 5th at the BGM Classic Tuesday, scoring 66 points. Blake Veenstra swept the throws, topping 50 feet in the shot put (50-03.25) and throwing 146-02 in the discus. Bryant Agre was 2nd in the 400 meters (53.68), and the 4×200 relay of Levi Schelhaas, Agre, Lucas Bandstra, and Jayden Huisman placed 3rd. The Eagles return to racing at the Rocket Relays next Tuesday.

Pella Christian’s tennis team remains undefeated in dual meets, heading to Grinnell and winning 8-3. The Eagles had another strong showing in singles, with Lizzy Posthuma, Jaden Joy Morgan, Kitty G, Megan Kramer, and Kelly Van Wyk all earning victories in the 2-6 spots. Morgan Bush joined Posthuma to win No. 1 doubles, with Gu and Olivia Vander Pol and Van Wyk and Adrienne Vander Molen earning wins at 3 and 4. Pella Christian, now 7-0, welcomes Saydel to Eagle Lane Thursday.

The No. 12 ranked Pella Christian girls soccer team bounced back from two consecutive losses to ranked opponents with a 2-1 win over Indianola. The Eagles had nine shots on goal and found the net during the 36th minute of the first half on an assist from junior Annika Terpstra to classmate Emma Dunsbergen. The Eagles went up 2-0 in the 17th minute of the second half on a breakaway goal by Molly Bolt. Head Coach Mike Buchheit says a rare defensive breakdown allowed the Indians to fight back to a 2-1 deficit just six minutes later. Otherwise, Indianola was only able to get two shots on goal. The Eagles return to action Thursday against a Chariton Charger Team that PC has bested four of the last five head to head matchups.

Pella Christian’s boys soccer team snapped a three game losing streak, besting Indianola at home 1-0. Noah Cooper scored the lone goal of the game for the Eagles. The Eagles get a bit of a break before they are back in action Tuesday against Grinnell at home.
