The author of a book regarded as one of the most comprehensive and authoritative works on the subject of state capitols, will be at the Knoxville Public Library on May 2nd to discuss this subject.

Richard Gibson is the author of the book “A Celebration of State Capitols” which covers not only the history of each state’s main legislative house but also former capitols, governor’s mansions, pictures of their domes and various other historical photos.

Four pages are devoted to each state, and Gibson also includes everything from pictures of vintage memorabilia and postcards to comparative timelines. He consulted with a number of historians and museum curators to gather as much information about the history of these buildings.

His presentation will be on Thursday, May 2nd at 6:15 p.m. at the Knoxville Public Library’s temporary location, inside the former East Elementary School.
