The press of activities at the end of the school year means the Knoxville School Board will have to give way for the month of May.

The board voted Monday evening to start its May 13th meeting a half-hour earlier, at 5:00 p.m. to allow board members to attend the All-School Band Concert that evening.  The board has also cancelled the May 27th meeting, which would have fallen on Memorial Day.

Board President Andrew Schmidt tells KNIA/KRLS News there will be plenty of things going on for students and parents during this last stretch of the school year.

“We have a lot of spring sports, there’s more sports represented in spring than other seasons, and then…the end of the school year concerts are happening, and then things related to graduation as well,” Schmidt says.

Other events in May include the Knoxville Middle School Vocal Concert on May 7th, the Knoxville High School Pops Show on May 14th and Scholarship Night on May 15th. All these events will be at the K-PAC starting each night at 7:00 p.m.

The last day for seniors will be Friday, May 17th with graduation on Sunday, May 19th.
