Improvements to the parking lots at Madison Elementary were approved by the Pella School Board Monday. The board approved plans to add an additional drop off and pick up area to improve safety for students and parents. A contract was awarded to TK Concrete of Pella for approximately $262,000, which was approximately $16,000 less than the engineer’s estimate. A separate part of the project went unbid, as it relates to new lighting, and quotes are out for the estimated $30,000 of work. They also approved registration fees for the upcoming school year, which included a slight bump in the preschool transportation fee–which now will be $100 per semester, but no other changes were included. The board also approved sharing agreements with Lynnville-Sully and Oskaloosa for facilities management and food services respectively.
