A potential bond referendum for the construction of a new county road shop was a topic of discussion for the Warren County Board of Supervisors Tuesday, as they met in special session. As of now, the county shop is not centrally located, and does not serve the needs of the Engineer’s Office.

As there are not enough funds available to complete the project, the board gave direction to staff to put together a proposal for a public bond referendum vote this November to coincide with local elections, that would be for approximately $7 million for the county road shop, and additional funds for four separate projects on paved roads throughout the county that are in need of attention. No official decisions were made, and an official bond referendum proposal is expected to be available during the supervisors meeting on May 7th.

The board also approved an agreement with Shive-Hattery for audio/visual equipment in the Justice Center Project, approved funds for Warren County Conservation, and discussed the use of county buildings during the Indianola RAGBRAI overnight stay.
