After side-stepping a defender and launching a low line drive, Pella senior striker Grace Held hit a major milestone in the No. 3 Lady Dutch 8-0 win over Oskaloosa Tuesday.

Despite a bitter wind and periodic rain, Held caught fire late in the 1st half, setting her up for career goal number 100 in the 56th minute. Grace scored in the 9th minute and twice in a 40 second span just before the half to get No. 97 through 99. Held says she’s thankful for all of the teammates she’s been the field with during her four-year career, thanking them for getting her in a position to reach the 100 goal mark.

“It just feels amazing, because it was something I had in mind as a freshman coming in,” Held says. “I couldn’t have done it by myself–I’ve been on great teams all four years and in my freshman and sophomore year, I learned a lot from the girls above me and then moving into my junior and senior year I was able to be a leader.”

Held is a two-time first team All-State honoree, and has played in two state tournaments with the Lady Dutch. Hear from Held on tonight’s Radio Sports Page at 6 p.m. on KRLS.

Pella dominated the match against Oskaloosa, as they gave up no shots to the Indians, with additional goals coming from Caroline Bradley–who knocked in two, Macy Schultz, and Josie Lickteig in the final minute on a corner kick. Pella improves to 7-1 and has a showdown looming next Tuesday when they travel to Dallas Center-Grimes.
