Kids in Knoxville won’t have to wait long on the last day of school to have some summer fun, as they’ll be able to enjoy Helmets and Hotdogs right away.
The fourth annual event will take place on Friday, May 31st from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the parking lot across from City Hall. It starts a half-hour after school lets out for the summer.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children to enjoy this bicycle safety event; there will be inspections and a bike safety course, and kids can bring in their helmets to be adjusted…or trade them in for new ones, if necessary.
There will be free food and drawings for two new bicycles and summer fun baskets. In case of rain, the event will be moved into Memorial Hall.
The Knoxville Police Department will follow up the next day with its annual bike sale; it will be held starting at 10:00 a.m. in the storage shed at the southwest corner of Roche and Rock Island.
All bikes will be sold as is for $10, and the sale will continue until all bicycles are gone. Buyers must bring photo ID and be at least 18 years of age.
