Indianola American Legion Post 165 is hosting a Memorial Day Parade in downtown Indianola on May 27th. The parade will line up at 9am at the Warren County Administration Building and starting around the square at 10am. Co-Director of Warren County Veterans Affairs Ted Hall tells KNIA News a reminder of why the public’s support on Memorial Day matters so much.
“It’s the veteran not the preacher who gave us freedom of religion. It’s the veteran not the reporter who gave us freedom of the press. It’s the veteran not the poet who has given us the freedom of speech. It’s the veteran not the campus organizer who has given us the freedom to assemble. It’s the veteran not the lawyer who gave us the right to a free trial. And it’s the veteran not the politician who gave us the right to vote. I always try to remember those items and thank God I was born in this great country.”
After the parade concludes, a memorial service will be held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, with State Representative Scott Ourth speaking to the public. For more information on the Memorial Day Parade and service, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
