Lake Red Rock is kicking off summer programs during Memorial Day weekend. On Sat., May 25, they host Tweet, Flutter, and Flap: Birding Trek at 8:00 a.m. at Howell Station Campground. Participants can take a journey on a quest to discover Red Rock’s winged wonders, and learn some of the basics of spotting birds and identifying them by sight and sound. Bring binoculars or borrow a pair, with closed-toe shoes and long pants recommended. Later that morning, an Owl Puke investigation start at 10:30 a.m. in the visitor center. Those attending will get their own owl pellet to dissect to search through the bones to figure out what small animal became its meal. Programs are free of charge, and registration is not needed.
