Pella Christian had senior night spoiled by their rivals from Des Moines Christian, falling 2-1 in a penalty kick shootout to the Lions in a rematch from the opening match of the season. The Eagles, after holding No. 6 in 2A Pella scoreless for the first 76 minutes Wednesday, allowed Des Moines Christian to score first in the opening minute Thursday. The Eagles didn’t fold, according to Head Coach Mike Buchheit, and were able to even the score on a corner kick from Annika Terpstra to Lindsay Breon during the 56th minute of regulation. The score remained 1-1 through double overtime, but the Eagles fell 3-1 in the PK shootout. The Eagles finish the regular season 8-8 and host the 1A Regional opener Tuesday against Centerville at home at Eagle Lane.
