Knoxville High School students and fans are being urged to turn out Friday afternoon, and give the boys soccer team a rousing send-off as they head to state tournament play. They were originally scheduled to open play in the state tournament on Thursday, but wet grounds have pushed back play for all games to Friday. The scheduling and field assignments are unchanged.

The Panthers will be facing Cedar Rapids Xavier in the Class 2A quarterfinals; kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines.

The team bus is scheduled to leave at 12:10 p.m. from the school; fans are invited to come out wearing gold, and line Willets Drive to cheer them on as they depart.

Friday is the last day of school, and classes are already scheduled to end at 11:15 a.m.
