Today the Knoxville Boys Soccer Squad will play on the big stage of the class 2A State Meet in Des Moines. The Panthers are the eighth seed and will play one seed Cedar Rapids Xavier this afternoon at 2:30. The Panthers got to the state tournament by beating PCM, Grinnell, and Pella in the sub state with the later match this past Saturday. Coach Dylan Mick tells KRLS Sports the march towards the State Tournament began long ago when the current senior class were freshmen with a goal of making to Des Moines. Mick adds after an early-season loss to Chariton, he says Cristian Magana and rest of the captains became more focused about not just making it, but winning matches this weekend. First kick is at 2:30 this afternoon on field nine of the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines, fans can send the team off around noon today from the school.
