The Pella Christian baseball team split with Norwalk and the softball team was swept by the Warriors in the conference opening doubleheader Wednesday.

The Eagles baseball team won game one 9-4, and fell in extra innings 2-1 in the 9th in the nightcap. Pella Christian pounded out 12 hits and scored nine times in the opener, led by a 3-for-4 night for Lawson Bruxvoort, with a double and three runs scored, as well as 2 runs driven in each for Matthew Bokhoven and Devin Haveman. Will Dembski earned the win with 4 runs allowed in four innings and nine strikeouts. Pitching was king in the game two, with Dembski smashing his 3rd home run of the season in the 6th to give the Eagles the lead, only for an error in the 7th allowing the tie and an error in the 9th leading to the Warriors win.

Pella Christian’s softball team dropped their games 4-1 and 8-2. Natalie Harrill scored the lone run in the first contest, and Chloe Morgan stole a base after a hit and was driven in by Cheyanne Collins in game two. Both Eagles teams are off until a doubleheader Friday with Indianola coming to town for a single varsity matchup — the baseball game will be live on KRLS, and the softball game on 94.3 KNIA.
