To encourage bike safety during the summer and to celebrate the RAGBRAI overnight stay in July, the Indianola Mayor’s Youth Council is hosting Bike Fest 2019 – The RAGBRAI Edition on June 15th. Members of the Indianola Mayor’s Youth Council Jenna Lee-Johnson and Doug Voigts tell KNIA News this is important information to pass along to kids if we want to keep our community as safe as possible.

Jenna Lee-Johnson
“I think it’s important to keep kids active, especially in this day and age. This is a fun way to promote RAGBRAI and educate kids on how to stay safe, how to wear a helmet, and how to stay safe on the bike.”

Doug Voigts
“It’s just a way to get kids out and participating in a community activity, that also has the meaning of making sure there are no unfortunate accidents that occur while they are on their bikes. With our community being so bike heavy with RAGBRAI and the trails, it’s a good thing for them to know about and be aware of.”

This is the 7th year Bike Fest has been going on in Indianola. Bike Fest will run from 10am to noon on the downtown Indianola square with various free activities going on, including the KNIA Big Red Radio playing music and making announcements.
