fireworks

Independence day will look a little different this year for the residence of Knoxville. Last year and in years past the annual tradition has been to enjoy the city’s fireworks show at the Knoxville Airport. This year the fireworks show will be moved to Youngs Park. Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch tells KNIA/KRLS News the city partnered with the Knoxville Raceway to move the show in hopes of giving a more “up close feel” to the show as well as to allow the fireworks to be seen from the racetrack. Mayor Hatch says the race track will have a band playing earlier in the evening and that people will be able to park at the Youngs Park parking lot as well as find a spot on the ball field for the show. According to Mayor Hatch the change should allow for a better viewing experience with the fireworks being launched closer to the heart of Knoxville.
