The Knoxville Baseball Squad jumped out to a 6-0 lead on Oskaloosa Tuesday night only to see the Indians come back in the middle innings and win by a score of 9-8 in a game heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The Panthers started right from the beginning as Colton Jones led off the game with a single, followed by Mike Hudson, who reached on an error. Ben Olson provided the first scoring with a two RBI double and after a couple of Oskaloosa mistakes, the Panthers were up 4-0 in the first inning. Two more runs would come across in the second, but then Oskaloosa started chipping away after a pitching change virtually shut down the Panthers that saw their lead evaporate into a deficit by a score of 9-6. Knoxville got closer when Carter Bailey smashed a two run home run to centerfield in the fifth, but that was all the scoring. Coach Matt Miller told KRLS Sports he did like the start. While Knoxville Baseball was traveling to Oskaloosa, Knoxville Softball was hosting the Indians and the girls also came up short against Oskaloosa falling 4-0. Ashlyn Finarty pitched the distance taking the loss with one strikeout and no walks, she also went 2/3 as did Emery Neer. The Baseball boys are off until Thursday when they head to Albia, the girls get to take a trip to Keokuk to play the host Chiefs and West Burlington on Wednesday.
