The Knoxville Baseball Squad split with Clarke last night in two very different, but similar scoring games. Knoxville won game one when Kyle Ramsey singled in the bottom of the seventh to bring home Ben Olsen to give Knoxville the win 7-6. The Panthers built a 6-0 lead only to see Clarke tie it in the sixth with six runs. That wasted an outstanding pitching performance from Mike Hudson, who got a no decision allowing only two runs and striking out seven in 5 2/3 innings. Game two was more back-and-forth with Clarke jumping on top in the first 2-0, then Knoxville tied it in its half of the second, and forged ahead in the fourth but back came the Indians to tie it in the sixth and send it to extra innings when they would plate two runs to go up 7-5. Knoxville would get a run in its half of the eighth, but could not tie or take the lead with runners in scoring position. That aspect of the game was the most disappointing to Coach Matt Miller. Knoxville is now 6-20 on the season and 5-10 in the South Central Conference. The Panthers head to Grinnell tonight.
