At their most recent meeting, the Indianola School Board discussed the safety and procedures of giving 6th and 7th grade students Chromebook computers for the upcoming school year. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News the board and administration are most concerned with students using them the right way.
“At the middle school, 8th grade students got Chromebooks at the semester switch last year. So a lot of the discussion centered around maturity levels of students, and making sure that students and parents are prepared to use this tool. The board also talked about content filtering and monitoring, just really good discussion about doing this right and making sure everyone is involved to make this go smoothly.”
The students will receive the Chromebooks and training at the beginning of the school year, and Sathoff also said he hopes the students can take full advantage of the new resources.
