A youth basketball group recently won a regional tournament among the best teams in the Midwest. The Pella Hoops Club 4th Grade girls basketball team won the Pacesetters Great Five State Tournament in Minneapolis on June 14th. The group competed against teams from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin on the floor of the Target Center, defeating the 4th grade Minnesota State Runner Up, Wisconsin State Champion, and the Minnesota State Champion. Jefferson Intermediate School Students Ella Tousey, Avery Parks, Riley Parks, Emma Walkup, Lucy Carlson, Taryn Hol, and Mykaela Vincent are the members of the championship team. The girls were then recognized before the Minnesota Lynx WNBA game for their accomplishment. The team won the Iowa Pacesetters basketball tournament in March, which earned them the right to represent the state of Iowa in the Pacesetters Great 5 State Tournament in Minneapolis. The Pella Hoops Club 4 th Grade Black team is coached by Tim Tousey, James Walkup, and Paul Parks.
