The Knoxville Summer Sports Kids hit the road to Chariton tonight back in the South Central Conference. The Softball girls have put together a two game winning streak and stand at 11-11 on the season and 7-3 in the South Central Conference. While not totally eliminated from conference title contention, the Panthers need a lot of things to happen to have a shot. One is win out starting tonight over Chariton and Davis County on Friday. Two, have Albia lose twice, and Clarke to lose at least one in its final two conference games. Coach Coy Hupfeld is not thinking about the conference title race. He knows winning tonight and tomorrow night to finish off the SCC season at least in third place will help his team carry momentum into the impending regional tournament. The Panther boys will be on the other side of Chariton at the baseball field looking to get back to winning after falling to Grinnell on Tuesday. Senior players R.J. Roberts and Kaleb Streigel tells KRLS Sports it has been a struggle, but are confident they can finish out well. Both baseball and softball games are scheduled to start at 7:30, you can hear the softball contest on 95.3 KNIA starting at 7:15.
