Both Knoxville baseball and softball squads got significant road victories last night in Chariton as the Softball Panthers routed the Chargers 12-0 in five innings with the baseball guys completing the season sweep over Chariton 6-1. In the softball game, after a scoreless first inning, Knoxville went to work on Chariton’s pitching and scored one in the second inning, four in the third, three in the fourth, and four more in the fifth. Melanie Sullivan went 3/3 on the night with an RBI and run scored. Ashlyn Finarty was next to unhittable as she allowed just three hits and four total baserunners to go along with five strikeouts. On the baseball field blocks away, the Panthers beat Chariton 6-1 behind a six strikeout, four hit performance from Kaleb Streigel on the mound. Mike Hudson went 3/3 at the plate. Knoxville broke the game open in the fourth inning with three runs scored. The Knoxville softball squad is 12-11 on the season while the baseball squad improves to 7-21 on the season. Both teams will finish out South Central Conference play at Davis County tonight.
