The Pella Christian softball team opened the Don Bosco tournament with a day one sweep. The Eagles defeated West Marshall 11-3 in game one Friday. The first inning was where the Pella Christian bats established themselves, highlighted by an RBI Double from Ivy Terpstra and a two-run double by Emerson Sarver. In the 3rd inning, Sarver had another two-run double, and she finished with five runs batted in. Chloe Morgan had four hits and three runs scored as well, and Danielle Vande Voort earned the win in the circle, giving up three earned runs in seven innings. The second game saw the Eagles pull off an 8-1 upset over No. 4 in 2A Jesup. Pella Christian scored six runs in the 4th inning to break a tie and didn’t look back. Natalie Harrill was 2-for-3 with two runs, Terpstra was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, and Sierra Pleima added two runs batted in. Pella Christian improves to 9-14, snapping a five-game losing streak. The Eagles continue competition in Don Bosco tournament today.
