Another frustrating loss for the Knoxville Baseball Squad and the same thing reared its ugly head again for the Panthers, runners left in scoring position in their 5-4 loss to Nevada on Monday night as heard on 95.3 KNIA. After a scoreless first inning which saw Knoxville starter Kaleb Streigle strike out the side, Knoxville got on the board first with a Colton Jones two RBI single to put the Panthers on top 2-0. The Cubs answered in their half of the second with two runs, followed by Knoxville getting a run back in the third on a Ben Olson solo home run, Nevada tied it again in the bottom of the third. Knoxville forged ahead in the fourth, Nevada jumped on top in the fifth when the Panthers started to commit errors. Knoxville ended up leaving seven runners in scoring position on base. Mike Hudson took the loss going two innings of relief. It was a much different story in the softball contest between the two schools as Knoxville prevailed 5-1. Ashlyn Finarty was again on as she went the distance scattering five hits with three strikeouts, she also went 3/4 with two RBI. Melanie Sullivan also went 3/4 and Emery Neer was 2/3. Baseball will host Gilbert tonight for senior night while softball will host class 4A #3 A-D-M.
