The City of Pella is celebrating Independence Day today. Michael Comstock with the 4th of July Committee says several streets will be closed or have lane reductions for the celebration, especially this evening, near downtown and later near Madison Elementary school. The annual parade will begin at 6 p.m. along Franklin Street, with the staging area along East 2nd near downtown. The Pella City Band performs from 8 to 9 this evening, followed by fireworks east of Madison Elementary. The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio is participating in the Pella parade. Patriotic music can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS from 9 to 11 p.m. tonight.
