The Central College football team went 8-2 in 2018, losing two games after starting quarterback Blaine Hawkins went down with an injury.

The junior-to-be is back at full strength, and poised to lead a Dutch squad expected to contend for its first playoff appearance in 10 years.  Joining us on last night’s Central College Radio Coaches Corner, head coach Jeff McMartin says that Hawkins’ play is important to his team’s success.

“The game itself – high school, college, pros – most teams are quarterback driven.  We certainly are, to an extent. I think he is a very special football player, and he’s an all-conference football player.  Every game that he’s started, he’s won, except for one, so he’s already got a nice little resume put together.”

Hawkins and the Dutch will start the 2019 season in less than two months, on September 7th, at home against Northwestern of Minnesota.
