Mike Hudson was brilliant on the mound, and the Knoxville Baseball Squad got runs home and defeated Newton on Monday night 6-2 in a game heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The Panthers went to work right away in their half of the first inning when Kaleb Streigel brought two runs home on a single to make it 2-0. After the Cardinals got a run back in the second, Knoxville scored again on an Evan Eck sacrifice fly to center field. Newton plated one more run to get back to 3-2. After two scoreless innings by Knoxville the Panthers scored insurance runs hit in by Ben Olson, Streigel, and Kyle Ramsey. Hudson went 6 1/3 innings giving up two runs on five hits, a walk and four strikeouts. Coach Matt Miller told KRLS Sports Hudson was throwing strikes and making it difficult for Newton to establish any rhythm. Knoxville is now 9-24 on the season and will travel to Bondurant-Farrar tonight for a varsity only game at 7:15.
