The Marion County Fair kicks off this Friday at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Knoxville. Several residents from area communities will be participating over the week long celebration, including many from the Pella area. Emma Yoder will be showing animals again at this year’s fair, carrying on a family tradition spanning over her three older siblings and two decades. Yoder is a member of the Prairie Pride 4-H group made up of several Pella-area students and says her participation in the program has helped her grow in many ways.

“It’s a great way to learn how to be responsible, and also respectful in all of those pillars of character, because you have to take care what you are taking care of and you have to work hard for any project,” she says. “It also creates work ethic and all of these other important factors of life you can use beyond 4H.”

Hear more from Yoder about her time in 4-H and the upcoming Marion County Fair on today’s Let’s Talk Pella. The KNIA/KRLS Big Red Radio is broadcasting updates from the Marion County Fairgrounds at Knoxville Raceway throughout the Marion County Fair, starting this Friday and continuing through July 18th.
