Sports Page Sporting Goods in Pella is closing by the end of the year. Their retail location near the Pella Walmart will be shutting its doors after a dozen years in business. Owner Phil Hemming says the changes and challenges of the modern retail environment led to the decision. The Pella location is the final retail store remaining for the company, as those challenges have led to closings of the other brick-and-mortar locations. He says the other side of the operation–their screen-printing and organization apparel business, has grown significantly, especially with the merger with BSN Sports starting earlier this year. Sports Page Sporting Goods will remain open for a clearance sale for now.
