Central College softball fans will have plenty of reasons to follow along with next week’s state softball tournament in Fort Dodge.

While athletes can’t officially sign letters of intent at the Division III level, four members of state-bound teams have announced on social media that they’ll be playing for the Dutch starting this fall.

Sydni Huisman of Treynor has struck out 361 batters on the season, the most of any player in Iowa.  She’s also in the top six in the state in both ERA and opponents batting average.

Lisbon’s Skylar Sadler hasn’t allowed a run in the postseason as the Lions have outscored three opponents 18-0.  She tossed a 13-inning shutout in Monday’s 1-0 win over Belle Plaine.

Madison Farrington has helped East Marshall slug their way to state.  The Mustangs catcher hit two home runs Monday, bringing her season total to 13.  She’s batting .466 with 28 extra base hits and 64 RBI, which is number two in the state in all classes.

Emma Johnson is an outfielder for Davenport Assumption, the heavy favorites to win state in 3A.  She’s batting .381 on the season with 17 stolen bases.

The state tournament runs next Monday through Friday in Fort Dodge.
