The Class 2A district baseball postseason continued Tuesday evening, as Pella Christian and PCM traveled to State Center to face each other in Game 1 of the District 10 semifinals. The Eagles put together a complete performance beginning to end, and advanced to Saturday’s District Final with an 8-1 win in a game heard on 92.1 KRLS. The Pella Christian offense wasted no time getting the scoring underway, setting the tone with a two-run homer by Devin Haveman in the first inning. The Eagles added two more runs in the third, another in the fourth, and three more in the seventh to cap off the scoring. PCM’s only run came courtesy of a Reed Worth RBI in the bottom of the third.

Lawson Bruxvoort, Will Dembski, Devin Haveman and Matthew Bokhoven all had two hits to lead the way offensively for Pella Christian. Wes Cummings was the only Mustang with multiple hits, leading the way with two. Will Dembski was the winning pitcher, pitching six innings while giving up one earned run, six hits, struck out nine batters and surrendered no walks. Derek Brown takes the loss for PCM, going five innings, giving up five earned runs, seven base hits, four walks and had six strikeouts. PCM’s season ends with a record of 17-5, while Pella Christian improves to 16-14. They advance to Saturday’s District 10 Final, returning to State Center to take on the hosting Trojans with a 7:00 first pitch. Pregame coverage begins at 6:45 on 92.1 KRLS.
