Gio Scelzi had a great night at the Knoxville Raceway in fact the entire Scelzi family had a great Saturday. While Gio’s older brother Dominic was winning a race in California, the younger member of the Scelzi family whose father is a legendary drag racer was putting one of the biggest woodshed beattings in Knoxville Raceway history. Gio won the All-Star Circuit of Champions A-Main on Saturday in doing so became the youngest 410 winner in Knoxville Raceway History at 17 years and eight months, coming six days earlier than the late Danny Young’s record back in 1988. Scelzi took the lead from Kerry Madsen at lap ten and won by nearly eight seconds. If that was not enough…Scelzi charged from 18th starting position to third in the 360 A-Main which was won by Cory Eliason. Scelzi, and just about every other driver that ran Saturday night at Knoxville will return Thursday and Friday for the preliminary nights of the 29th Annual My Place Hotels 360 Nationals. KNIA will have live coverage of all three nights of the Nationals.
