Today we begin the countdown of the Top ten sports stories for the 2018/2019 school year at Melcher-Dallas High School with number ten. In a late season game on February 14th, the Saints Boys Basketball Squad turned a 20 point loss to Wayne in the final regular season game, into a four point win in the first round of the class 1A district. On February eighth, the Saints fell behind the Falcons early 25-8 in the first quarter and never recovered in a 67-47 loss. With that loss fresh in their minds, the Saints and Falcons met at Saydel High School in the district first round and Melcher-Dallas kept the Falcons at bay using pressure defense and rebounding, plus causing turnovers to win 44-40. The Saints would finish 11-8 on the season and 5-4 in the Bluegrass Conference. More on those records in the coming days.
