No. 6 of the best moments from the past year at Pella Christian takes us from the beginning of the academic year at #7 on the list to the final Eagles win of 2018-19 this summer. Back-and-forth the pitchers went between Pella Christian and West Marshall, but it was the Eagles that found the runs needed to advance in a 2-0, 10-inning 2A District Final classic heard live on 92.1 KRLS on July 20th.

Neither offense could solve either starter, as Will Dembski and Ryan Reyerson drew even and scoreless into the late innings. Relievers Cam Bannister for the Trojans and Devin Haveman found similar success in keeping the offenses quiet into extra innings, until a bases-loaded, no-out scenario turned into a pair of error-aided runs in the top of the 10th for Pella Christian. A relatively quiet inning for Haveman in the bottom of the 10th, aided by solid defense, gave the Eagles the win.

Haveman and Dembski combined to throw a 10-inning no-hitter, which sent the Eagles to their first substate appearance since 2005. The Eagles finished 17-15 in a loss to No. 2 North Linn the following game, and the Lynx are playing for a state championship Saturday.
