Wayne Johnson won the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour race at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa on Tuesday while Brady Bacon won the non-wing Power-I War Sprints. What made Bacon’s win so impressive that he decided to take the challenge of coming from the back to win. Bacon was asked if he wanted to win from the back of the field and took the challenge and was in the lead by lap 13 and ran away with the race. In the 360 show Wayne Johnson beat Sam Hafertepe Jr. and Willie Croft.

All the preparing, all the testing, and all the trying different things have come to tonight. 106 total drivers, 53 tonight and 53 scheduled for tomorrow will try to make their way into 24 coveted spots on Saturday night to race for the chance to be called Knoxville Nationals winner. It is not easy to make to the show on Saturday. First drivers must time trial, and then the faster qualifiers are inverted by eight meaning the fastest qualifier in each heat must start in eighth position and pass four cars to transfer into the A-Main tonight and tomorrow night. One driver that hopes to get into tonight’s A and Saturday night’s show is Sheldon Haudenschild. He tells KRLS Sports qualifying are where the Nationals starts and sometimes ends for drivers. Haudsenschild is scheduled to run tonight as is ten time winner Donny Schatz along with last week’s 360 Nationals Winner James McFadden, Kerry Madsen, last year’s Rookie of the Year Gio Scelzi and past Knoxville track champion Ian Madsen. Listen for live coverage of night one of the Nos Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals starting with Live Track Side at five on KNIA and kniakrls.com.
