Next Saturday, August 24th the Marion County Public Health Department will play host to their annual Roll and Read event at the Marion County Park Ball Fields which will continue into their Free Summer Movie Night in the Park. Rachel Garner with the department tells KNIA/KRLS News the Roll and Read event is meant to promote early childhood literacy and parent child interaction. She says there will be a half mile walk where parents can read individual story pages with their children while they walk around the ball fields. Garner says the theme of the night is a circus theme which will include different circus activities that will go nicely with the movie The Greatest Showman, which will be featured as part of the Free Summer Movie Night in the Park. She says the Roll and Read will begin at 6:30 and will run until the start of the movie which is tentatively scheduled for 8:45 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
