The U.S. Drought Monitor Report shows abnormally dry conditions remain in portions of Marion County but relief came this week. In most of the area, 2-4” of rain has fallen since Sunday morning. The U.S. Drought Monitor cuts off precipitation through Tuesday morning, so most drought conditions will likely be alleviated in the next report. Daytime highs will remain in the upper 70s through Sunday, with additional chances for rain returning Monday. The long-term forecast from the U.S. Climate Prediction Center indicates cooler than average temperatures and drier conditions through early September.
