Pella Christian held off a scrappy Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont volleyball team Thursday night, winning 3-1 (19-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-21) at Eagle Lane. After falling in a deep hole in set one, the Eagles closed the gap a bit and built some momentum heading into set two. From there, the Eagles had several stretches of six to seven point rallies and kept the Rockets at bay for the rest of the match. Head Coach Dr. Joanna Settles says when their serving was going well was the strength of their runs, led by sophomore Avey Amelse, who went 30 of 32 on serves with eight aces. Emma Dunsbergen added five blocks and Molly Bolt finished with 10 kills. The Eagles are up to 4-4 and travel to Norwalk Tuesday.
